Lovage (Levisticum officinale) is a large aromatic herb whose root contains exceptionally high levels of volatile phthalides (specifically ligustilide). Phthalides exert a powerful spasmolytic effect that relaxes the smooth muscles of the urinary tract, bladder, and digestive system. This action, combined with its stimulating diuretic properties, increases renal blood flow and flushes out urinary gravel and pathogens.

CRITICAL: Do not use if you suffer from acute kidney inflammation or severe kidney failure, or if you have edema caused by heart or kidney failure. Lovage contains furanocoumarins, which can cause phototoxicity (skin sensitivity to sunlight); avoid direct sun exposure after handling.
