Lovage

Lovage (Levisticum officinale) is a large aromatic herb whose root contains exceptionally high levels of volatile phthalides (specifically ligustilide). Phthalides exert a powerful spasmolytic effect that relaxes the smooth muscles of the urinary tract, bladder, and digestive system. This action, combined with its stimulating diuretic properties, increases renal blood flow and flushes out urinary gravel and pathogens.

What Lovage is used for

  • Fluid Retention (Edema)
  • Urinary Tract Infections
  • Kidney Stone Prevention
  • Spasmodic Indigestion
  • Congested Airways

Pharmaceuticals Lovage is studied as a natural alternative to

  • OTC diuretics
  • Urinary antiseptics
  • Expectorants
  • Antispasmodics
