Borage (Borago officinalis), or Starflower, is highly valued for its seeds, which contain the highest concentration of Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA)—an essential omega-6 fatty acid—found in nature (up to 20-24%). GLA is metabolized into DGLA, a direct precursor to anti-inflammatory prostaglandins (PGE1) that suppress inflammatory pathways in skin and joints. The plant leaves also contain mucilage and mineral salts that soothe mucous membranes.

CRITICAL: Borage leaves and flowers contain small amounts of hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs). Oral leaf use should be strictly limited. Only use certified PA-free cold-pressed seed oil. Avoid completely during pregnancy and lactation.
