Greater Celandine (Chelidonium majus) is a highly active member of the poppy family whose bright yellow latex contains isoquinoline alkaloids (such as chelidonine and berberine). Ingestion of standardized Celandine acts as a potent spasmolytic, relaxing the bile duct and intestines to relieve painful colic and spasms. Topically, its fresh milky latex contains proteolytic enzymes that break down and dissolve common warts.
